Someone pretty special has just turned one (sniff, sniff)! I’m not quite ready to call him a toddler just yet…..I am still in denial. Never the less, we had to celebrate this day in style! Thanks to Jack’s super human appetite for all things edible and non-edible, we thought a party based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle would be appropriate.
Jack was in a great mood for the party. I bought this shirt off of Etsy….you know how I love Etsy!
My partner in crime, Dru (who I can’t seem to catch in a picture), created the Pinterest inspired Caterpillar pictured above.
She also made the cupcakes……
and the great display of Jack growing up this past year. I’m pretty spoiled to have her help! If you are following my 30 by 30 posts you know I am trying to complete at least 30 Pinterest projects. I know we used at least six Pinterest ideas for this party, but for the sake of future ideas..I’m only going to count it as two.
Our babysitter Karla, who is just like family, has been making my kids birthday cakes for years. She did not disappoint with this one!
More sweets…an Oreo Cream Cake (yum), and fake ice cream cones, (made with cake batter).
We did serve some “regular” food, that we tried to match to the food the caterpillar ate.
Each guest received their very own bug kit! I found these at Michael’s in the spring toys.
It’s really that good!
“I am tired, covered in cake, and full of sugar. Please, no more pictures!”
It was a great day, but I hope this coming year moves a little slower….I’m not ready to plan his 2nd birthday!
